Took a little trip to Calke Abbey on Saturday, in the sunshine, lovely walled gardens and glasshouses on the grounds. Going inside the house there was many distressed walls, particularly as you went higher up the stairs, interesting to see the older layers of wallpapers tearing away. Very inspirational for current interior trends of overgrowth and bringing the outdoors in!

Completing my 3 years at De Montfort University with a 2:1 in BA (Hons) Textile Design, specialising in print.
Had an excellent time exhibiting at New Designers part 1, so much amazing work on display!
Currently working on a new vibrant project, continuing the theme of greenery and palms. Applying a bold colour palette of greens and terracotta. Taking inspiration from glasshouses, gardens and anywhere with vibrancy.
SELECTED TO SHOWCASE MY FINAL MAJOR PROJECT AT NEW DESIGNERS!! Visit the Business Design Centre, London, Part 1, 28/06/17 – 01/07/17
Final collection photoshoot set up, styled by Textile Design staff at De Montfort University. Using one of the large freehand, digitally printed scenes and large fanned palm wallpapers, along with a few light fabrics, creating a contrasting image, accompanied by black and white objects.
A favourite fashion & interior shot from this morning. Displaying a silk sample, alongside a wallpaper and collection artwork.
Constructed a little set up with PAIGE this morning. Taking a few shots of our final samples for online portfolio use.
LAMPSHADE DESIGN, camouflaging with a wallpaper repeat.
Organising some wallpaper designs in my tiny studio flat, digitally printed by Bags Of Love, all coming together nicely now.
Recently took a little break from my final project and visited the Josef Frank Exhibition at the Fashion & Textile Museum in London. Frank’s large and vibrant prints from the 50’s and 60’s are still so contemporary, I found his use of colour particularly inspiring. On display until the 7th of May, so get down there!
Experimenting with flock on digitally printed paper.
In the print studio, still experimenting with applying textural finishes such as suede, foil and flock.
MORE VISUALS. I love using Mapper to apply my prints to, styling fabrics and papers for a natural wood interior.
NEW VISUAL Using Mapper and Adobe Photoshop I am beginning to bring together different aspects of my collection through colour. Strong inspiration from House of Hackney and Timorous Beasties.
Half a dozen shots from a recent PHOTO SHOOT last week, styling my fabrics for fashion. This worked well, having never doing any photography before I am very happy with the results! However I am now working towards creating this concept into a moody interior collection.
View finding small areas from previous reactive dye prints, creating large scale misty texture.
SCREEN EXPOSURE. I have exposed a observational drawing on screen, splitting the image into a silhouette and line, the fine line screen works well with puff and suede, creating a subtle, raised surface texture.
By ENLARGING and digitally printing one of my reactive prints, I was able to work back in much more detail, using white gouache, paint pens and sand textured clear acrylic. Adding more depth to the original image.
MOOD BOARD. Sourcing inspiration from various primary and secondary research. To develop a moody, misty atmosphere for the home, pulling up lost and forgotten plants, researching into the prehistoric era and glasshouse tropics. Constructing a need to experiment with different material thicknesses and weights.
Simple quick wallpaper ideas, using early prints, getting a sense of scale.
Studio experiments, hand painting with reactive dyes.
Hi! I’m starting this blog nearing the end of uni, updating you on the last few stages of my FINAL MAJOR PROJECT, creating a timeline of development.
